Session log — Medistage go-live to medilearn.africa

Summary

Took the site previously at medistage.medilearn.africa live as the new medilearn.africa. The old WordPress site (previously hosted at 41.222.32.14) was archived to iCloud and then replaced. Site is live, secure, and indexable. Old medistage links 301 to the new address.

Decisions

Medistage (not staging) was confirmed as the site going live.
Old medilearn.africa site archived for the record only, nothing carried over.
Kept both medilearn.africa and medistage.medilearn.africa DNS records pointing at the VPS so the server can serve the live site at one and 301-forward the other.
www.medilearn.africa added as a CNAME so people typing the www version also land correctly.
noindex header removed from the live site so search engines can index it. Kept on the two FCP PDF download paths.

Changes made

Saved a static archive of the old public pages to archives/old-medilearn-africa-2026-05-28/ (7 HTML files).
Web server config updated to serve medilearn.africa from the medistage site root, with a redirect block for medistage.medilearn.africa and an HTTP-to-HTTPS redirect for all three names.
SSL certificate expanded to cover medilearn.africa, www.medilearn.africa, and medistage.medilearn.africa.
One hardcoded link in the "Ethical considerations for AI" page updated from medistage.medilearn.africa to medilearn.africa. Backup saved on the server before the update.
DNS A record for medilearn.africa changed at domains.co.za from 41.222.32.14 to 154.66.198.194.
www.medilearn.africa CNAME added at domains.co.za pointing to medilearn.africa.

Follow-ups

Hasmukh to review the menu links that were deactivated and decide which to bring back.
The old medilearn.africa hosting at 41.222.32.14 is no longer in use, but the account/billing on that side has not been cancelled. Decide later whether to keep it running for a grace period or wind it down.
Mail (mail.medilearn.africa at 41.222.34.15) was not touched and continues working as before. If email is ever moved to a new provider, revisit those DNS rows separately.
Staging.medilearn.africa is still running its own copy. No longer needed for go-live; decide later whether to keep it as a sandbox or retire it.
